Tuesday, 17th April, 2001 - 7:59pm the number you have dialled is not connected... I had to call the phone company today. Here's a transcript of the beginnings of the conversation: AUTOMATED VOICE: "We are now transferring you to our Customer Service Centre, where your call may be monitored or recorded for customer relation coaching purposes. Transferring you to our Customer Service Centre now..." *click* "beep - beep - beep - beep" Yep. They hung up on me. And I can't even say that a real person hung up on me. It was their automated voice that gave me the flick. ~sigh~ You'd think that Telstra, the company notorious for being repugnant to their customers (and trying desperately to undo the reputation) would be a little bit more attentive to these kind of things? But really, it's rather poignant, isn't it? They put me through to their Customer Services, and there's nothing there. Hmm, I may adopt this method of behavioural abstention in every day life.
